Attorneys Justin Litvack, Hillary Nakano and Eric Ritigstein represented Boxer & Gerson last weekend as the firm sponsored a high-spirited charity crab feed organized by Alameda Firefighters IAFF Local 689 and the Alameda Education Association. The sixth annual affair benefitting the Alameda Point Collaborative and Alameda Family Services drew hundreds of civic-minded attendees to the Albert H. Dewitt Officers Club at the former naval base on Alameda Island.
Alameda firefighters carried huge platters of crab around the hall (pictured above) as they filled the role of servers for the Saturday evening event.
The menu featured crab, pasta and salad, with refreshments provided by local breweries and wineries. The dinner was followed by multiple raffles and dancing that went into the evening hours. (There were no reported sightings or photographic evidence of Boxer & Gerson personnel on the dance floor, though they were heard to unanimously proclaim the crab as divine.)
IAAF Local 689 is affiliated with the International Association of Fire Fighters, which is celebrating its centennial in 2018 and holding its 54th Annual Convention this August in Seattle.
The international union represents more than 300,000 firefighters and emergency medical services personnel in 3,200 locals throughout the U.S. and Canada. Eighty-five percent of the U.S. population comes under the protection of IAFF members.
Local 689 produced a lively video of the crab feed , which it posted on its Facebook page. The union urges everyone to have a look and make a plan to attend the seventh annual event next spring.
