On this Labor Day 2018, with the majority of the country enjoying a day of leisure and fellowship with family and friends, it is good to remember that this day, along with most other paid holidays on the American working calendar, is possible only due to the heroic efforts and sacrifices made by union members of the past who fought tirelessly, righteously, and often at great personal cost, to achieve the dignity that was their due, and which they have left as a rich legacy for all those workers—unionized and not—who have benefitted from their sacrifice ever since.
So we honor those individuals today by highlighting those who are still on the front lines of the Labor Movement, carrying on a rich tradition of activism to ensure that working men and women everywhere share in the fruits of their labor and can look on their hard work with not only satisfaction and pride, but with just compensation and security for themselves and their families.
